Bernese Mountain Dog Example & Requirements
Below is a screenshot of the OFA database listing for one of my Bernese Mountain Dogs who has a CHIC number. You can click on the photo to enlarge for detail. You will note that Henley's dam also has her CHIC number. Her sire Kuza has all the required tests to get his CHIC number - but his VetGen report for von Willebrands Disease was never submitted to OFA (it can be seen in Berner-Garde, he is Clear). Below is a screenshot showing the Bernese Mountain Dog breed-specific requirements for a CHIC number. In addition to the breed-specific tests listed, a CHIC requirement across all participating breeds is that the dog must be permanently identified via microchip or tattoo in order to qualify for a CHIC number.
