CH Woodmoor's Black Diamond CD NDD ~ "Zyla"
Zyla was the beautiful bitch I kept from Hailey’s second litter. She made me aware of the term “heart dog” - I try not to have favorites, but Zyla was just determined to be a favorite. She was my first homebred Champion, as well as my first homebred CD and NDD. She always slept in the bed with me, quiet and still as can be, just a reassuring presence. As of the end of 2016, she remains my only homebred brood bitch – which hopefully will change in 2017. When she was 8 years old, Zyla was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in her eye – so her eye had to be removed. It is funny how dealing with this simply strengthened the bond. I think Zyla is the only Berner to have earned her NDD as a one-eyed dog.
